A Beauty and the Beast dress in time for Christmas

As I was off in my local thrift store last friday I tried on this red dress. I was visibly homemade, though nicely so and had some beautiful details that reminded me of a real Beauty and the Beast Christmas dress:

It cost 13,50 Euros which is about 16 USD!!
The roses around the neck are handmade from the same fabric as the dress and little green leaves were added. The beads on the lace at the waist were hand sewn on!! So this was a real labour of love. But in some aspects it is not quite finished, it was hemmed in black instead of red. Some of the stitches were made quickly, as if temporary.

It also has some fit issues for it to be to be able to wear it. In the pictures in is pinned in the back to fit me because it is much too big for me in the waist. But strangely enough it is not wide enough in the shoulders and bust, missing about 10 cm.

On this picture you can see the markings I made in chalk of how much I have to take the waist in. Oh, and also, the zipper is broken. 7

I think that the best solution will be to take out the zipper, add a triangle of fabric, take in the waist and put in grommets to create a lace up back, this will allow for a better fit and fix the problem of the missing fabric at the upper back.

Now all I have to do is get to it, even though I think that will happen in February or March because things have been too crazy lately to take on another sewing project. So maybe it will be done in time for next Christmas?
