Early on in the conservation process I had to do a condition report of the coat, establish it's problem areas and determine the most urgent repairs needed.
The coat had been on exhibition at the city museum for many decades, from the 20's to the 80's in non ideal conditions, constant exposure to UV's and the pressure in the shoulder seams caused great damage to develop over time. Here is an extract of the condition report I did:
